Charities

Since childhood, my family have always assisted charities, especially during the festive season. For as long as I could remember, my fondest memories were of my siblings and I, handing out plates of food, hampers and sometimes supplies to those in need.

We still often help the underprivileged, the homeless and communities from various informal settlements in Durban. So, in keeping with tradition, I have chosen to support the following organisations, which focus primarily on infants, orphans and underprivileged children.

ABOUT

It's a 'Fishes and Five Loaves' Project, supporting 3 pre-schools in northern Zululand at Kwadlakuse, Sovane, Maphambeni.

DESCRIPTION

The Milimani Educational Trust was established in July 2003. The Trust focuses on uplifting neighbouring communities in the Magudu area, northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
IMPRESSUM

Milimani Game Sanctuary was owned by Ken and Lois Kuhle from 2000 to 2005. During this time they worked closely with the neighbouring communities of KwaDlakuse and Sovane. The Sanctuary believed strongly in responsible tourism and the upliftment of these impoverished communities, hence the Milimani Educational Trust was created.

ABOUT

A transitional home for abandoned babies in Durban South Africa.

DESCRIPTION

Under the umbrella of The Peace Agency, Skip and Sheila Collins have set up the La Lucia Baby House, a Crisis Centre and place of safety for orphaned and abandoned babies. The Baby House is registered with the Durban branch of Child Welfare to care for babies in the transition phase between abandonment and placement in an adoptive or foster family.

Our vision is to provide a safe, loving and nurturing home for abandoned babies and toddlers, where they are restored to health and wholeness before being placed in a secure family unit.

Our vision is to feed the hungry in their most desperate time of need. As the number of volunteers and donors grow, we move closer to realising our dream of communities where no child is too hungry to concentrate and learn. We currently serve close to 4500 meals every day (a combination of porridge, soups and sandwiches).
