Beekman Group gets behind SPCA Winter Warmth campaign

Beekman Group employees at their Port Shepstone headquarters have all thrown their weight behind the SPCA’s (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) 2011 Winter Warmth campaign. The 230 employees between them donated a large amount of food, blankets, toys and cleaning materials to the Margate branch of the SPCA on 15 July, just in time for the vicious cold snap that gripped the country soon after.

The contributions from the Beekman Group staff, who frequently embark on charity drives, includes 90 cans of cat food, 38kgs of dry cat food, 180 packs of wet cat food, 2 kitten baskets, 91 cans of dog food, 254kg of dry dog food, 32 packs of wet dog food, 9kg of dog biscuits, 38 blankets, 22 toys, 10 packs of cleaning materials, as well as an assortment of pillows, mats and other items.

Samantha Podmore, the Beekman Groups Marketing and PR Executive, said that “the service that the SPCA provides directly improves the living conditions and lives of millions of abandoned and neglected animals around the world. We applaud the tireless work that they do, and are immensely proud to be
able to contribute to the efforts of the local Margate SPCA. We urge the South Coast community to also get involved, as together we can make a difference”.

Beekman Group employees in the past have also supported campaigns such as the CANSA Relay For Life, Earth Hour, as well as having contributed to the initiation of the Beekman Group’s very own ‘Go Green’ initiative.
